2. Switzerland, Zürich. Last day
The Last day of Switzerland was very nice. after packing my suitcase, I decided to take a walk randomly along the River into the alleys with no destination in mind. I had only brought my film camera due to many reasons. The alleyway led me to a large open park where couples enjoyed picnics and sat along the rocks, smoked, talked and watched the view. The park also had a extremely large chess board that I wanted to play it so badly.
I kept walking in and out of alleyways and dropped me in a little town of parks, museums and coffee shops called Ausstellugsstrasse. I went to the museum of graphics and interior design, which was right next to the college for interior and graphic design. They had all these amazing graphics and the museum itself was cool. A lot of large open spaces and light leaking in. I really liked seeing that a lot in this trip due to my apartment back in San Francisco only got four hours of sunlight (on a good day). I had a great apple pie and a coffee.
One thing about Switzerland is they like their coffee through expresso machines and most places have the same one, so its not really about the coffee there. I had one drip coffee this whole trip and it was one of the very few places in Switzerland that does it. It was called MAME. The bartista had me pick the flavor bean I want. (floral, chocolaty, etc.) it took a while to do make, and was about $8. Very worth it tho. The coffee shop is in a book of best coffee shops around the world. I could agree with that because it was truly very good.
As I was going through the museum, they had a children area with plenty of games and children books. I picked up a book that said Zurich on it, This book was similar to "wheres Waldo" but more like name that place. I opened up to a page that I found so fascinating and I stared at it for a while. (photo from phone below) They lady next to me had seen me talking a picture of it and started talking to me. She had said that the area was near Prime Tower, which is like their business building. So i used the photograph as my road map and headed to the area. (fyi I had almost no service in Switzerland so it was hard to use the map on my phone to get around). After getting lost a bunch, I had finally found it and it looked just liked the photo. I saw the walkable highway, the photo booth, the building that says gas on it and the cool restaurant with the lights. I ended up just going into their version of salvation army which I don't remember what they called it and purchased three more coats. headed over to Germany.
We said goodbye to Switzerland, and departed to Germany.
