For the past 8 months, Palestinians in Gaza have endured one of the worst humanitarian crises of our time. Israel, with the support of at least $12.5 billion dollars in U.S. military aid, has killed more than 38,000 Palestinians, including over 15,000 children, with thousands more unaccounted for under the rubble. The British medical journal, The Lancet, recently issued a warning in July 2024 with a conservative estimate that the true death toll could be over 186,000 people. Due to Israel’s immense destruction of infrastructure and healthcare technology as well as the targeting of journalists and healthcare workers in Gaza, data collection has become a major challenge. As for displaced families seeking relief from the bombings, they often have little to no time to move their entire lives to ‘designated safe zones’, only for the IDF to then knowingly bomb these safe zones, targeting hospitals, schools and refugee camps, ultimately killing and displacing Palestinian families with nowhere left to go.
According to a June 2024 report from the UN, upwards of half the people in Gaza are expected to face death and starvation by mid-July. Despite these estimates, our goal is to ensure the survival of as many Palestinians as possible, focusing all our efforts towards distributing mutual aid to displaced Palestinian refugees that have escaped into Cairo.
