Stockholm, Sweden Subways

Stockholm's subways are one of the greatest subways I have ever seen. They look like caves and each subway is different. I spent the last day here touring all the subways. It was really fun because I used a subway map to figure out all the subways to go to. Here is some information I have found about the subways:

"The Stockholm subway system is said to be the world's longest art exhibit - 110 kilometers long.Traveling by subway is like traveling through an exciting story that extends from the artistic pioneers of the 1950s to the art experiments of today. Over 90 of the 100 subway stations in Stockholm have been decorated with sculptures, mosaics, paintings, installations, engravings, and reliefs by over 150 artists." Find more info at: visitstockholm.com

Info about T-Centralen: This was the first metro station to be built in Stockholm, and was where the concept of adding artwork to the subway began. Although the original sculptures and paintings were created in the late 1950s, T-Centralen has received numerous additions. In 1975, Ultvedt added many of its most memorable features, including these blue vines and floral motifs which were intended to create a sense of soothing calm for commuters. When I went out to shoot photographs of the station, I went during the busiest time. T-Centralen is the most crowded and busiest station because all the lines connect to it making it the center of all the stations

Tekniska Högskolan – Lennart Mörk

Solna Centrum – Karl-Olov Björk and Anders Åberg: Björk and Åberg (1975) used this station as a political statement for the environmental movement. A spruce forest runs for almost 1,000meters along the walls of the statement, underneath a blood-red sky

The one with the lights is actually modeled after a heart beat of the artist son according to Gabby but don't quote me on that..

Due to me having a 50mm lens only, there was absolutely no way I could capture the beauty of these stations, but they are worth learning about.
